What is the Warden Network?
The warden network is a communication system that helps the U.S. Embassy stay in contact with American citizens in Slovakia. It is managed by the Consular Section and is especially valuable during emergencies or crises. However, it is also used to share important routine updates with the American community.
Slovakia is divided into geographic zones, each with several volunteer wardens. These wardens act as key points of contact, sharing information from the Embassy with other Americans in their area. In the event of an emergency, the Embassy will relay updates to the wardens, who then distribute the information within their zones.
Communication typically takes place through email, telephone, fax, or hand delivery. Each warden usually keeps in touch with about ten Americans.
